Ingredients
- 1½ cups cooked, shredded chicken (rotisserie, grilled, or poached)
- ½ cup buffalo-style hot sauce (such as Frank’s RedHot)
- 2 tablespoons ranch dressing
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon paprika
- ½ teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
- ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack all work great)
- 9 slider buns (preferably connected rolls like Hawaiian or soft brioche)
For the Garlic Butter Topping
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ¼ teaspoon Italian seasoning
Preparation Tips Before Starting
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Line a square baking dish (9×9-inch or similar) with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup.
- If you’re not using rotisserie chicken, cook and shred the chicken in advance so it’s ready to mix with the sauce.
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven
- Set your oven to 350°F (175°C) to ensure it’s ready by the time you assemble the sliders.
- Prepare your baking dish by lining it with parchment paper or lightly greasing it to prevent sticking.
- Make the Buffalo Chicken Filling
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the following:
- Shredded cooked chicken
- ½ cup buffalo hot sauce
- 2 tablespoons ranch dressing
- Garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper
- Mix thoroughly until the chicken is evenly coated in the sauce and seasonings.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed. You can add more ranch if you prefer it creamier or less spicy.
- In a medium mixing bowl, combine the following:
- Slice the Slider Rolls
- Take the 9-pack of slider rolls and, without separating them, carefully slice horizontally to create a top and bottom layer (like a sandwich bun).
- Place the bottom layer into the prepared baking dish.
- Add the Chicken Mixture
- Evenly spread the buffalo chicken mixture across the bottom half of the rolls.
- Make sure the chicken is distributed edge to edge so each slider gets a generous portion.
- Top with Cheese
- Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the chicken layer.
- This will help hold the sliders together once baked and also deliver that gooey melt factor.
- Cover with the Top Buns
- Gently place the top half of the slider rolls over the filling to complete the sandwiches.
- Brush with Garlic Butter
- In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with garlic powder and Italian seasoning.
- Using a brush or spoon, spread this mixture evenly over the tops of the buns.
- This step enhances flavor and helps create a golden finish in the oven.
- Bake the Sliders
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil to prevent the tops from browning too quickly.
- Bake for 15 minutes covered, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 5–7 minutes until:
- The tops are lightly golden brown
- The cheese is fully melted and gooey
- Serve
- Let the sliders rest for 2–3 minutes after baking.
- Use a serrated knife to cut between each roll and serve warm.
Notes
- Using Pre-Cooked Chicken
If you’re short on time, rotisserie chicken is your best friend. Just remove the skin and shred the meat finely. You can also poach chicken breasts or thighs and shred them after cooling. - Making It Less Spicy
Buffalo sauce has a noticeable kick. To make it more kid-friendly or mild, use a milder buffalo sauce or increase the ranch dressing ratio. You can even mix in a tablespoon of softened cream cheese for a richer, gentler flavor. - Cheese Choices
While cheddar and mozzarella are great, you can try:- Monterey Jack for extra meltiness
- Pepper Jack for a little more heat
- A combination of cheeses for added depth
- Keeping Rolls from Getting Soggy
If you’re prepping ahead, store the filling separately and only assemble just before baking. Also, placing a layer of cheese on the bottom bun before the chicken can act as a moisture barrier. - Transporting or Reheating
These sliders are great for potlucks and events. Reheat them in a low oven (300°F) covered with foil for 10–12 minutes. Avoid microwaving, as the buns may become soggy. - Customizing Flavors
Want a twist? Mix in chopped green onions, a sprinkle of blue cheese crumbles, or a few jalapeño slices for a boost of flavor. Just be sure to keep everything finely chopped so it doesn’t make the sandwiches bulky.
