  • Total Time: 10 minutes
  • Yield: 2 cups 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 7 oranges – Fresh, juicy, and packed with vitamin C, oranges are the base of this drink.
  • 4 carrots – Carrots add a natural sweetness and are an excellent source of beta-carotene.
  • 2.5-inch piece of fresh ginger – Ginger provides a zesty kick and offers digestive and anti-inflammatory benefits.

Instructions

  • Prepare the oranges: Cut the oranges in half and juice them using either a juicer or by hand. If you’re using a juicer, follow the manufacturer’s instructions. You should have around 2 cups of fresh orange juice by the time you’re done.
  • Prepare the carrots: Cut the ends off the carrots and roughly chop them into smaller pieces. This will make it easier for your blender or juicer to process them.
  • Prepare the ginger: Using a spoon, scrape the skin off the ginger. This will remove the tough outer layer, leaving you with the fresh, flavorful ginger inside.
  • Juicing with a juicer: If you’re using a juicer, simply add the chopped carrots and ginger to the juicer after juicing the oranges. Turn it on and process according to the juicer’s instructions. Once done, you’ll have your juice ready to serve.
  • Juicing with a blender: If you’re using a blender, place all the ingredients (oranges, carrots, and ginger) into the blender and blend on high for about a minute. You should have a thick mixture that’s well-combined. Now, it’s time to strain the juice.
  • Straining the juice: To remove the pulp, place a fine sieve or nut milk bag over a large bowl or pitcher. Pour the blended mixture in batches through the sieve or bag. Use the back of a spoon to gently press down and squeeze out as much liquid as possible.
  • Serve: Once the juice is strained, pour it into glasses and enjoy immediately for the freshest taste. Alternatively, you can store the juice in the fridge for up to one day.

Notes

  • How to tell if the carrots are done: When blending the carrots, make sure they are finely chopped before adding them to the blender to avoid having any large chunks. If you’re using a juicer, it should process them quickly.
  • How to store leftovers: If you have any leftover juice, store it in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It’s best consumed within 24 hours for optimal freshness and flavor. You can also freeze it in ice cube trays for later use in smoothies.
  • Troubleshooting: If your juice is too thick, add a little water to thin it out to your desired consistency. If it’s too tart or spicy, balance the flavor with a small amount of honey or a touch of orange zest.
  • What to do with leftover pulp: Don’t throw away the leftover pulp! It’s full of nutrients and can be added to a smoothie, soup, or stew. If you’re not using it right away, you can freeze the pulp to use later.
