These Chicken Parm Sliders are crispy, cheesy, and packed with classic Italian flavors! Perfect for parties, game nights, or a quick dinner, this beginner-friendly recipe delivers all the comfort of chicken parmesan in a fun, handheld bite.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 12 sliders 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound frozen breaded chicken tenders or nuggets
  • 1 (12-ounce) package sweet Hawaiian slider rolls
  • 1 garlic clove, grated or finely chopped
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • ¼ teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Kosher salt, to taste
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 2 tablespoons finely chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ cup grated Pecorino Romano cheese, divided
  • 1 cup homemade or store-bought marinara sauce, plus extra for serving

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Chicken

Cook the frozen breaded chicken tenders according to the package instructions. Once done, let them cool slightly before cutting any large pieces into 2-inch sections. This ensures that each slider gets an even portion of chicken.

Step 2: Prep the Slider Buns

Preheat your oven to 375°F and position a rack in the center. Keep the slider buns attached, and slice them in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom section. Place the bottom half on a parchment-lined baking sheet, cut side up.

Step 3: Crisp the Bottom Buns

Bake the bottom half of the buns for 3 to 5 minutes, just until they start to crisp up. This helps prevent them from getting soggy once the marinara sauce is added.

Step 4: Make the Garlic Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter along with the grated garlic and crushed red pepper flakes (if using). Microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring in between, until the butter is fully melted. Add a pinch of salt for flavor.

Step 5: Layer the Ingredients

  • Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella onto the bottom buns.
  • Add the chopped basil and half of the Pecorino Romano cheese.
  • Place the cooked chicken pieces on top, spreading them evenly across the buns.
  • Spoon marinara sauce over the chicken, then top with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  • Cover with the top half of the slider buns.

Step 6: Brush with Garlic Butter and Bake

Using a brush or spoon, coat the tops of the buns with half of the garlic butter mixture. Place the assembled sliders in the oven and bake for about 25 minutes, or until the buns are golden brown and the cheese is melted.

Step 7: Final Touches

Remove the sliders from the oven and brush them with the remaining garlic butter. Sprinkle with the remaining Pecorino Romano cheese for extra flavor.

Step 8: Serve and Enjoy

Serve the sliders warm with extra marinara sauce on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Avoid Soggy Buns – Toasting the bottom buns before assembling helps prevent them from getting too soft when layered with marinara.
  • Even Cheese Distribution – Spreading the cheese in layers ensures that every bite has a perfect balance of flavors.
  • Make-Ahead Option – Cook the chicken in advance and assemble the sliders right before baking for a quicker meal.
  • Check for Doneness – The cheese should be fully melted, and the buns should be golden brown. If needed, bake for an additional 3-5 minutes.
  • Customize the Heat Level – For a spicier version, add more red pepper flakes or use a spicy marinara sauce.
