Ingredients
- 8 ounces cream cheese (softened)
- 7 ounces marshmallow fluff
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- ½ cup dried cranberries
- ¼ cup pecan chips (or chopped pecans)
- 1 tablespoon orange zest (from 1 orange)
- 2 drops pure orange extract (optional)
Instructions
1. Prepare the Ingredients
- Start by softening the cream cheese. Leave it at room temperature for about 30 minutes or microwave it for 10–15 seconds (be careful not to melt it).
- Measure out all ingredients to make the process smoother.
2. Mix the Base
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, marshmallow fluff, and powdered sugar.
- Use a hand mixer or stand mixer to beat the ingredients until smooth and creamy. Make sure there are no lumps.
Note for Beginners: If you don’t have an electric mixer, a whisk will work too, but it may require extra effort to achieve a smooth consistency.
3. Incorporate the Flavorings
- Gently stir in the dried cranberries, pecan chips, orange zest, and orange extract (if using). Use a spoon or rubber spatula to fold these ingredients evenly into the mixture.
Tip: For a stronger orange flavor, add an extra drop of orange extract, but be cautious—it’s potent!
4. Chill the Dip
- Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for 30 minutes. This step allows the flavors to meld together and gives the dip a firmer texture.
5. Serve and Enjoy
- Transfer the chilled dip to a serving bowl. For a festive touch, garnish with extra dried cranberries, pecans, and a sprinkle of orange zest.
- Serve with your favorite dippers, such as Walkers Shortbread cookies, vanilla wafers, graham crackers, or fresh fruit slices.
Notes
Troubleshooting:
- If the dip is too thick: Add 1–2 teaspoons of milk or heavy cream and mix again.
- If the dip is too sweet: Balance the sweetness with a pinch of salt or a splash of lemon juice.
- If you overmix: The dip may lose its fluffy texture, so mix just until combined.
Kitchen Tips:
- Efficient Prep: Zest the orange first before cutting or juicing it to make the process easier.
- Softening Cream Cheese Quickly: If you’re in a hurry, place the sealed cream cheese in warm water for 5–10 minutes.
- Making Smaller Batches: Halve the recipe for a smaller gathering or personal treat.
