Layers of creamy, cheesy goodness! 🧀🍗 This Cheesy Chicken Alfredo Lasagna is the ultimate comfort food—tender chicken, rich Alfredo sauce, and melty cheese stacked between soft lasagna noodles. A beginner-friendly dish that’s as indulgent as it is easy to make! 🍝✨

  • Total Time: 1 hour
  • Yield: 6 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale
  • 9 lasagna noodles, cooked and drained
  • 2 cups cooked chicken, shredded (rotisserie chicken works well)
  • 2 cups Alfredo sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

  • 2 tablespoons chopped parsley (for garnish)

Instructions

Step 1: Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Dish

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with cooking spray or butter to prevent sticking.

Step 2: Cook the Lasagna Noodles

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the lasagna noodles according to the package instructions until they are al dente. Drain and set aside. To prevent them from sticking together, you can lightly toss them with a bit of olive oil.

Step 3: Prepare the Ricotta Mixture

In a medium bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, egg, garlic powder, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until smooth. This mixture adds creaminess and helps bind the layers together.

Step 4: Assemble the Lasagna

Layering is the most important step in creating a well-structured lasagna. Follow these steps carefully:

  1. Spread a thin layer of Alfredo sauce on the bottom of the baking dish to prevent sticking.
  2. Place three lasagna noodles over the sauce.
  3. Spread 1/3 of the ricotta mixture over the noodles, followed by 1/3 of the shredded chicken.
  4. Drizzle 1/3 of the Alfredo sauce over the chicken and sprinkle 1/3 of the shredded mozzarella cheese.
  5. Repeat the process for two more layers, ending with mozzarella cheese on top.
  6. Sprinkle Parmesan cheese evenly over the final layer for extra flavor and a golden finish.

Step 5: Bake the Lasagna

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil to retain moisture and prevent excessive browning. Bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and continue baking for another 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.

Step 6: Let the Lasagna Rest

Once removed from the oven, let the lasagna sit for at least 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the layers to set and makes serving easier. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley before serving.

Notes

  • Preventing Soggy Noodles: Avoid overcooking the lasagna noodles. They should be slightly firm when boiled, as they will absorb moisture from the sauce while baking.
  • How to Tell if It’s Done: The lasagna should be bubbly around the edges, and the cheese should be melted and slightly golden on top.
  • Evenly Distributing Ingredients: Spread each layer evenly to ensure balanced flavor in every bite. Using a spatula can help distribute the ricotta mixture smoothly.
  • Adjusting the Recipe for Smaller Portions: If you’re cooking for one or two people, consider assembling the lasagna in a smaller baking dish and freezing the extra portions for later use.
