Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Chocolate Cake or Brownies
Bake a rich chocolate cake or brownies according to your favorite recipe or use a store-bought option for convenience. Let it cool completely before cutting into bite-sized cubes.
Step 2: Make the Baileys Cheesecake Filling
- In a large mixing bowl, beat the cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth and creamy.
- Gradually add Baileys Irish Cream, blending until fully incorporated.
- Fold in the whipped cream gently to maintain a light, airy texture.
Step 3: Create the Chocolate Ganache
- Heat the heavy cream in a small saucepan until it just begins to simmer.
- Pour the hot cream over the chocolate chips in a bowl. Let it sit for a minute, then stir until smooth. Allow it to cool slightly before layering.
Step 4: Whip the Cream
Whip the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract until stiff peaks form. Keep refrigerated until assembly.
Step 5: Assemble the Trifle
- Base Layer: Start with a layer of chocolate cake or brownie cubes at the bottom of a large trifle dish or individual serving glasses.
- Cheesecake Layer: Spread a generous layer of Baileys cheesecake filling on top.
- Ganache Layer: Drizzle or spread the chocolate ganache over the cheesecake layer.
- Whipped Cream Layer: Add a layer of whipped cream for a light contrast.
- Repeat the layers until the dish is full, ending with whipped cream on top.
Step 6: Garnish and Chill
Sprinkle chocolate shavings, cocoa powder, or mini chocolate chips over the top. Chill the trifle for at least 4 hours (or overnight) to allow the flavors to meld.
